Margaret Mohr
- Margaret Mohr was born and raised in New York City. In her teens she began working in off-Broadway theatre and costume shops. She built her early experience by designing costumes for off Broadway, touring companies, regional theatre and working for repertory companies in England.
As a staff designer for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Canada, she spent several years designing costumes for productions ranging from historical period pieces, to dramas, comedies and children’s programs, many of which were broadcast internationally.
Besides being an accomplished Costume Designer, Margaret is an artist and sculptor, showing her work in galleries in New York, Los Angeles, Japan and Europe. Her works range from installation pieces to small intimate objects. Several of her pieces are in corporate collections.
Ms. Mohr has several degrees in Design, Art History, Film and Communication and Culture. She has taught at Ryerson University, (Toronto) in both the Film and Fashion Departments. She has written several articles on the intersection between costume, character and storyline in silent film as well as costume, character and collaboration.
Throughout her career, Ms. Mohr has been acknowledged for her leadership and skills. She has designed costumes for many prestigious and well-known actors in feature films and television ranging from big-budget productions to small independent films, television series and movies.
Currently, Ms. Mohr divides her time between New York City, Los Angeles and Toronto.
